Jetman Jet Team

Some Laser guided melodies from Seattle’s Jetman Jet Team

Falling Upwards in Slow Motion

We are very excited to see the return of Psychic Ills to Seattle along with their Sacred Bones label mates all the way from Santiago, Chile- Föllakzoid! It’s been quite a few years since the Ills have been up to Seattle and since those days they’ve seemingly reversed engineered their sound from free-form alien soundtracks into a levitation inducing slow-mo desert boogie.  After a long journey through the psychedelic jungle they’ve found themselves back at the sacred temple of the eternal 4/4 backbeat getting their groove on.

Föllakzoid on the other hand are on their first trip to the states and bring intense and futuristic Krautrock rhythms that seem to push the listener sky-ward in dizzying and euphoric fashion. Their latest release “II” is one of the finest new records I’ve heard in some time and this rare appearance is not one to sleep on. Have a listen to the black hole space disco of this track entitled “Pulsar”-

We are stoked to have locals Kingdom of the Holy Sun open the evening up with their heavy and hypnotic vibes. Show up early, these guys just got back from a West Coast tour and have been putting on some great shows over the past year or so and recording some killer stuff which you should check out HERE.

Portable Shrines and the Crocodile Present: Psychic Ills, Föllakzoid and Kingdom of the Holy Sun

Come get even more Distorted this Wednesday 11/28 during the Lunar Full Moon Eclipse! It’s the 2nd installment of the bi-monthly {{DISTORTIONS}} Psych DJ Night at the LoFi. Resident DJs Explorateur and Veins have been burning up the decks lately with some of the most finely curated and far-out sounds you are likely to hear on this backwoods planet. Alien soundtracks, acid rock, psych funk, vintage electronic futurism and uncategorizable delights will pass through your ear holes all night. This time they will be joined by DJ One Eye of Portable Shrines (who used to bring you ye olde Wednesday night freak-outs at The Living Room). One Eye’s Portable Shrines Light Show will be in full effect as well so prepare to have your orbs dazzled by synergistic 4-D light mandalas.

9:00PM-2:00AM 21+ The LoFi 429 Eastlake Ave East, Seattle

For your beguilement: a brand new track from the mysterious figures known as Stenskogen. These three shadowy mages from the stone forest rarely make public appearances but when they do they’ve been known to summon a fog of sonic confusion that lasts for days. Stenskogen will be at the Funhouse on Saturday September 29th with Eternal Tapestry, Terminal Fuzz Terror and Baby Guns.

Into the CAVE

Another great show at the Comet (Lesbian, La Otracina, Great Society Mind Destroyers, Hypatia Lake show the week before was incredible BTW)
Thanks to Mama Casserole and all the folks who support amazing touring bands like Chicago’s CAVE. Locals Are You a Cat?, Midday Veil and Kinski also tore it up for real.
Here’s a couple videos from the show featuring Portable Shrines light show by Aubrey Nehring and Rena Bussinger.

beyond the wall of fuzz

Those cosmic travelers Moon Duo return April 8th at the Funhouse bringing dreams of summer fuzz. Speaking of dreamy fuzz San Francisco’s Young Prisms have plenty to spare so come get some. Also joining them will be one of the finest live acts in Seattle, the Diminished Men along with the soaring sounds of AIrport.

For Real

This is a real thing that is happening next week.

Wednesday 9/15 at the Living Room on Capitol Hill the first Portable Shrines Magic Sound Theatre psych DJ night with this weeks guest DJs Emily Pothast, David Golightly and Timm “Mood Organ” Mason of  Midday Veil. Phantasmagorical synesthesia, and audio visual incantations every other Wednesday until they ask us to stop.  Come get down.  Free.
