True about Burning Man, but I just wouldn't want to trip around all that decadence and forced art...the desert sex aspect is really gross. I have friends who love Burning Man, but they are not ones to partake of the psychedelics so I have nothing to reference with that.

I agree about the mid sized festivals, they are far more open to such things and provide a comfortable environment to explore the mind while in a group setting. I have never gone to a big festival (bumbershoot notwithstanding), they just do not appeal to me at all.

apologies for the late reply, things have been a bit crazy-d

How was the show? I'm sorry we couldn't make it.

For better or worse, I think events like Burning Man are picking up the slack in terms of public drug use. I've never been, but from what I gather it's kind of like the lot scenes used to be...just without the band to focus on. And with lots, lots more middle-aged doofuses in orange wigs having gross desert sex.

In addition to having more sucky music mixed in, the festivals that are still around have gotten all big and corporate. That's why moderately sized psych fests like Frisco Freakout and Terrastock are so great.

And so...long live Portable Shrines!
